As the season progressed, our team realized that we had a chance to make history and win a national championship. Every player worked their hardest to make the championship a reality, and we powered our way to a 5–1 regular season record.
After the regular season, we won our first playoff game against Colby College. Disappointingly, we lost to the University of Maine in our conference finals. We traveled to New York for a wildcard game against Ithaca College, and earned another chance to play in the National Championship bracket with a convincing 60–22 win.
In a hard fought rematch against University of Maine, we rallied from a 0-7 halftime deficit to finish with a 22–7 victory. With the win, we claimed a spot in the National Final Four tournament and were named Northeast Champions.
We flew to Denver, Colorado in April to play in the National Semifinals against LSU Alexandria. Despite heavy snow and slippery conditions, our team played hard and won the match by 2 points.
The next day, we faced the Claremont Colleges in the National Championship. We were unable to convert on two early scoring chances, and Claremont scored 11 minutes into the game to break the deadlock. Although we lost the championship, we left Denver as the national runner-up for the first time in the history of Tufts Rugby.
